Pelvic Health
Dr Pickard is the owner of Spruce Ridge Wellness. She is a general surgeon and works in a rural community hospital doing the full spectrum of general surgery.
Over the years she has dealt with many patients with pelvic floor issues and unfortunately noted that there were very few options for patients to avail of for treatments. This prompted the research into options and creation of Spruce Ridge Wellness.
She is also the proud mom to 3 smart and busy children.
What is incontinence exactly?
Urinary incontinence is defined as the involuntary leakage of urine and can be a result of weak pelvic floor muscles.
There are three different types of urinary incontinence:
• Stress incontinence: is when there is exerted pressure on the bladder causing leakage. This can be caused by coughing, laughing, sneezing, or exercising.
• Urge: is the sudden, intense urge to urinate frequently.
• Mixed incontinence: is a combination of both stress and urge incontinence.
What to expect during the treatment?
During BTL EMSELLA treatment you will be completely clothed. We do recommend wearing loosely fitted and thin clothing to help achieve best positioning during treatment. When the treatment starts you will feel slight tingling and vibrations in your pelvic floor muscles that will then turn into full contractions. This will be completely comfortable and tolerable. If not, please let your healthcare provider know and they will adjust accordingly. You will be able to return to normal activities after the treatment.
